A recent tragic incident led to a group of New Yorkers coming together and attempting to pull off a miracle. According to The Independent, earlier this month, a taxicab hit a cyclist, which began a sequence of events that resulted in the taxi pinning two women against a building’s wall. The incident happened on Broadway between West 28th and West 29th around 1 pm on a Monday. Reportedly, the cyclist ran a red light, which led to the collision with the taxi.
After the taxi, which was an SUV, hit the cyclist, the driver veered onto the sidewalk and appeared to speed up and hit several planters with the taxi. The taxi then hit two women and crashed into the side of a luxury hotel, pinning the two women against the wall of the hotel.
After seeing the accident unfold, around 15 to 20 New Yorkers nearby rushed over to lift the taxicab off the two women pinned to the wall. Eventually the women were freed and taken to the hospital for treatment. In total, six people were injured in the accident. Three of the six suffered serious injuries and were fighting for their lives as of this report.
