Construction Worker Dies in Manhattan Construction Accident

A construction worker was killed in April in a crane accident during construction of 35-storey mixed-use building in midtown Manhattan. Officials with the FDNY reported that a crane’s hydraulic system failed, pinning a worker between the crane’s boom and a truck on 219 E. 44th Street.

According to city officials, the worker had trouble moving materials with the crane and when investigating the problem, he was pinned by the truck’s boom, crushed by the weight of the machinery. A resident who works nearby recalls the deceased was seen often on the work site, stating “He’s one of the main guys at the construction site next door, good man.”
